At the international Congress in Metz, the IBF leadership Task Force suggested establishing an open forum on the internet for people involved and interested in leadership training. We are writing to invite you to put your name forward if you are interested in joining this initiative. This letter is being sent to everyone who attended the congress in Metz and to all national society secretaries for circulation to their members.
It is hoped that an internet forum would enable an exchange of experiences with Balint group leadership training — reflections after leadership seminars, experiences with supervision and developing systems for accreditation of leaders. And whatever else members of the forum might want to pursue.
We hope that an international forum would allow for experience and expertise to be shared more easily and to facilitate conversations being able to continue between congresses and conferences.
From preliminary enquiries we are likely to launch the network on Google Group and will invite an administrator (for new members, members who want to resign or change e-mail address) and a moderator (possibly two) who would help to establish and enforce any ground rules thought necessary. If you have experience of a similar professional internet forum, or ideas about how such a forum might operate, please let us know at the same time as registering your interest in taking part.
There are many exciting ways in which such a forum within IBF might develop and we hope that people will come forward with ideas.
Please let us know if you would like to join the group before the end of December so that we can send out the first mail with more details and information about how the group will function in the New Year. And please indicate the e-mail address you want to use for messages from the network.
